Achtergrond ENTP De start (2001) De doelen To work as a platform to exchange information, share good practices and implement common projects To work as an advocacy body to represent the New Towns, promote them and strengthen their role on a region and transnational level De leden en structuur Achtergrond Lidmaatschap It started in Nieuwegein in 1990. A group of inhabitants, people of ngo’s wanted to be more involved with the world abroad and formed a group to discuss about international cooperation. They asked the municipality to start with policy for international cooperation to make the inhabitants of Nieuwegein more aware of the world abroad. In 1994 an official twinning started with 2 cities. Why these 2 cities in these countries? In consultation with the association of Dutch municipalities, a city in a (so to say) 2nd world and one in a third world country with some similarities with Nieuwegein. Pulawy and Rundu both lie on a river and have the same population, around 60.000 – 70.000. (Europese) projecten Vragen 3

We organised different projects on financial management, waste management and HIV/AIDS. Unfortunately because of the cut of budget of the Ministry of Foreign affairs we don’t receive grants for that anymore. Cultural and social projects > by schools, businesses and the working groups. Grants for different activities and projects. Local involvement > ngo’s, working groups. (Europese) projecten Vragen
