5 Passive voice Vorm van BE + voltooid deelwoord (= ww+ed of onregelm. vorm) –The ball is kicked by the boy –My parents were invited –Cinderella was being kissed by the prince –I’ve been ignored by my friends – Gebruik: –Als je de nadruk wilt leggen op wat er gebeurt en niet op wie het doet These records are produced in the USA (by a producer) Thousands of turkeys are eaten each year during Thanksgiving (by people) –Als je niet weet of niet wilt zeggen wie het doet Mistakes were made My wallet was stolen

6 Turning active voice to passive ACTIVE: The boy is kicking the ball 1.Haal het originele lijdend voorwerp naar het begin van de zin The ball... 2.Voeg een vorm van BE toe, in de tijd waarin het originele werkwoord stond...is being... (present continuous, want origineel is kicking is present continuous) 3.Voeg het originele hoofdwerkwoord in in de vorm voltooid deelwoord...kicked... 4.Voeg eventueel het originele onderwerp toe in een by-phrase...by the boy PASSIVE: The ball is being kicked by the boy
