5 Feasibility study on a Project of Business Support to the Supply Chains of Green Beans, White Beans and Sesame for Export from Ethiopia to the EU and Middle East with particular attention to small producers Rogier Verschoor  Proces van Pre-feasibility tot nu (3)  In oktober 2005 tijdens missie naar Ethiopia volgende taken uitgezet:  Studie van de huidige en verwachte markt voor export van boontjes, witte bonen, sesamzaad en nigerzaad in EU en Midden Oosten door SEARCHERS  Analyse van de huidige en verwachte keten van boontjes, witte bonen, sesamzaad en nigerzaad door IAC en SNV Ethiopia  Vergelijkende analyse van productiesystemen: individuele kleine boeren, cooperaties en outgrowing door DEBUB Universiteit  In november 2005 tijdens missie naar Ethiopia deze deeltaken samengevoegd  Op 25 en 26 november bijeenkomsten met stakeholders uit respectievelijk de sesam- en groentenketens onder leiding van Simone van Vugt (IAC)  In december 2005 projectvoorstellen uitgewerkt door IAC in samenwerking met twee kleine commissies uit de sesam- en groentenketens  Huidige stand van zaken: budgetvoorstellen nog niet helemaal rond..

7 Feasibility study on a Project of Business Support to the Supply Chains of Green Beans, White Beans and Sesame for Export from Ethiopia to the EU and Middle East with particular attention to small producers Rogier Verschoor  Uitkomsten tot nu (2)  Marktstudie:  Huidige en verwachte markt voor groene boontjes is goed, vooral in de EU (Nederland, Italie, Duitsland, Frankrijk en UK)  Huidige en verwachte markt voor witte bonen is goed, zowel in Midden Oosten en EU (Nederland en Duitsland)  Huidige en verwachte markt voor Humera sesam is heel goed, vooral in Midden Oosten, maar ook in Verre Oosten en EU (Nederland, Italie)  Huidige en verwachte markt voor nigerzaad is klein en zwak (alleen USA)  Al met al rechtvaardigt dit bedrijfsmatige projecten ter stimulering van export van groene boontjes, witte bonen en sesamzaad

8 Feasibility study on a Project of Business Support to the Supply Chains of Green Beans, White Beans and Sesame for Export from Ethiopia to the EU and Middle East with particular attention to small producers Rogier Verschoor  Uitkomsten tot nu (3)  Ketenanalyse:  keten van groene bonen is relatief kort, simpel, geconcentreerd en georganiseerd; problemen in de keten kunnen relatief eenvoudig opgelost worden d.m.v. een project  keten van witte bonen is divers, sterk verspreid en nog onprofessioneel  keten van sesamzaad is relatief lang, divers en heeft duidelijke kenmerken van uitbuiting van kleine boeren door handelaren  Al met al rechtvaardigt dit een bedrijfsmatig project in groene boontjes  Een dergelijk project in witte bonen is gerechtvaardigd, mits op pilot scale  Een bedrijfsmatig project in de sesam is gerechtvaardigd met een groep producenten cum exporteurs en kan een voorbeeld zijn voor de sector

9 Feasibility study on a Project of Business Support to the Supply Chains of Green Beans, White Beans and Sesame for Export from Ethiopia to the EU and Middle East with particular attention to small producers Rogier Verschoor  Uitkomsten tot nu (4)  Vergelijkende analyse van productiesystemen:  kleine producenten kunnen effectief deelnemen in exportketens van groene boontjes, witte bonen en sesam als outgrowers op collectief contract met een bestaande producent cum exporteur in hun regio  kleine producenten dienen georganiseerd te zijn om effectief deel te zijn in exportketens en outgrowing; informele organisaties of gebaseerd op sociale structuren hebben de voorkeur boven formele cooperaties (informele boerenorganisaties kunnen zelf op den duur kiezen voor formele registratie tot coop (wanneer ze sterk genoeg in eigen schoenen staan)  Al met al rechtvaardigt dit een bedrijfsmatig project met outgrowing arrangements tussen informeel georganiseerde boerengroepen en proucenten cum exporturs in hun regio
