Volume vs kwaliteit Ongeveer 10% van de voor landbouw gebruikte gebieden bestaat uit wijngaarden; in totaal meer dan hectare. Dat is goed voor 5 miljoen hectoliter wijn. De omvang van de wijnbouw is relatief gezien klein. Een groot deel van het land is immers onherbergzaam en hier is niets te verbouwen.

De Moschofilero – de roze druif Is momenteel de meest populaire wijn in Griekenland.. Geselecteerde wijngaarden rondom Mantinia in Peloponnesos, gelegen op een hoogte van ruim 650 meter, leveren de druiven voor deze wijn. Een wijn van dit druivenras, van de warme en zonnige Griekse wijngaard, is onverwacht elegant en doet eerder aan koude klimaatzones denken. Is veel aangeplant op de Peleponnesos, maar excelleert in de AOC Mantinia, waar wijnen vandaan komen met intense florale en exotische aroma’s, kruidig, licht van structuur en met een knisperend frisse zuurgraad.

YIANIS TSELEPOS If there were any justice in the cosmos he would need no introduction. Tselepos is one of several Greek winemakers whose abilities are incomparable in Greece and whose work transcends ethnic categorization. The Tselepos vineyards are among the very highest in Greece, but at a southerly latitude where the sun is at high strength. Tselepos works with the big grapes, the way certain conductors perform only the work of big composers. His Neméa (100% Agiorgitiko) and Mantinía (Moschofilero) are among the most well-structured that exist, with full body, surprising alcohol levels and great balance.

Agiorgitiko Een der fijnste rode Griekse druivenrassen. Rijk van kleur met intense geur en geconcentreerde smaak van rode bessen, chocolade en mokka. De wijnen hebben een volle, krachtige smaak met veel zachte tannines en een zuurgraad die speels het midden houdt tussen agressie en vlakheid. Mavrotragano Bestaat inmiddels 3000 jaar en werkt aan come- back! Ces vignes aux raisins noirs sont cultivées à l'est de l'île de Santorin.. On en tire un vin rouge aux arômes fruités, que l'on fait fermenter pendant neuf jours avant de le stocker au moins un an dans des tonneaux de bois. Le raisin pousse en petites grappes, et le rendement des vignes est faible, ce qui explique que leur culture a périclité. Katerina en Yiannis Dalamara The Dalamara family has produced handcrafted wines from Naoussa for five generations using the indigenous varietal Xinomavro. Now the sixth generation is poised to enter oenology school in Dijon France. Naoussa is one of the most revered appellations, considered the Burgundy of Greece. Katerina and Yiannis are famous for their techniques that adhere to traditional wine making methods that reflect the terroir found in the Macedonian region. Their low yield, low production wines are deeply desired throughout Europe and now the United States. This is truly one of Greece's boutique wine producers.

Xinomavro Paliokalias Named for the hill that the single vineyard wine comes from. Its name translates to “tower” that was erected on the hill during the Turkish Ottoman Empire days to keep watch over the Greek peoples. Paliokalias is 100% Xinomavro with an annual production of approximately 6000 bottles. The appellation AOC Naoussa vineyard are perched in a special microclimate at an altitude of 300 meters. It is the effort of hand picked and sorted grapes that produce this lush and elegant Xinomavro wine of Macedonia. It is aged for 12 months in French Nevers and Allier oak and released with bold tannins. The palate hints of blackberry, plum with vanilla and cinnamon. It will age nicely and change in complexity over a 10 to 15 year time. We recommend that you decant for 45 minutes prior to serving.

Boutari Goumenissa The Estate is named after the nearby community of Goumenissa The Goumenissa wine-producing district is one of the smallest districts in Greece but has a long tradition in viticulture. The Filyria Estate was purchased by the Boutari company at the end of the 1980"s. Aged for a minimum of one year in French oak.

Fileria Estate Is located in the Commune of Filyria in the Prefecture of Kilkis. The overall surface area of the estate amounts to 15 acres, of which 13.5 are covered by vines, planted on gentle inclines ranging in height from 171 to 187 metres above sea level. It is one of the most densely planted vineyards in the area, with more than 1,600 plants per acre, with 3-4 fruit- bearing branches per vine. The cultivation of the vine at the Filiria Estate is adapted to the rules of organic farming.

Alpha Estate - Amyndeon Dit wijngoed ligt op m hoogte in de VQPRD wijnstreek Amyndeon, in het noorden van Griekenland en is in 1997 opgezet door wijnboer Makis Mavridis en oenoloog-wijnmaker Angelos Iatridis. Adviseur is de agronomist (wijnbouwexpert) Dr. Stephanos Koundouras. Er heerst een semi-landklimaat met in de winter veel neerslag, zelfs sneeuw. Deze vochtreserves zijn belangrijk voor de hete, vrij droge zomermaanden. Bovendien irrigeert men volgens het RDI systeem (Regulated Deficit Irrigation), De zomernachten zijn koel, waardoor een uitstekende aromavorming ontstaat. Van nachtvorst in het voorjaar heeft men geen last.

Vin Santo De enige echte!! Op basis van zongedroogde Assyrtiko
