Educational and organizational shift (1) Prepare students not just for a fixed profession by providing a prescribed set of courses, but prepare them for life long learning and learn them to direct their own learning A student centred approach in which students acquire competences across flexible curricula Focus on student’s learning processes and on career coaching

Educational and organizational shift (2) Stakeholders in learning are fellow-students, teachers, coaches and assessors in institute and workfield Organization of courses in ten fields (health, economics, media, law, etc.) Stimulate students to learn outside their major field, if appropriate for their acquistion of competences

Need for e-portfolio? Need for overview and flexibility, for cohesion and development How can I learn from myself and from others? Where do I stand? Where do I move next? How do I show who I am and what I want? E-portfolio’s primary functions: –Reflection –Registration –Representation

Pilot projects Departments Social Studies and IT Studies 1.Planning functional configuration based on didactic and administrative workflow of departments’ organization 2.Experiment with student groups 3.Evaluation 4.Development of blue prints for didactic and organizational processes

Example of workflow: PAP (Personal Activity Plan)

Implementation - evaluation (1) We can support the workflow in a way that makes learning and teaching more efficient in tearms of overview and flexibility Students and faculty are able to work with the pilot system and have pleasure in doing so. Students and faculty came up with some enhancements on aspects of usability

Implementation and evaluation (2) Working with a digital portfolio helps in the discussion about redesigning our didactic and organizational processes We have developed new insights for an integrated functional model for IT architecture

Implementation and evaluation (3) So far we have only worked with internal stakeholders So far we have only worked with the primary functions of reflection and registration, not yet with representation So far we have focussed on the didactic processes, not so much on the administrative ones It takes time to develop quality, but it pays off

Follow up project Work with all of the primary functions with internal and external stakeholders in both didactic and adminstrative processes Deepen the pilots in IT Studies and Social Studies Broaden the pilots to six more departments Further development of workflows towards standardisation on institutional level with room for flexibility
