5 Sequence words To keep your story organized you have to use sequence words. Examples of sequence words: first, second, next, last, after, before, finally, today, yesterday, meanwhile, later, then, next week, last night, this afternoon, by the time, in the meantime. Without sequence words you don’t know in which order things happened. For example: We looked in my room. We searched Tom’s room. We found our ball in the backyard. With sequence words: First, we looked in my room. Then, we searched Tom’s room. We finally found the ball in the backyard. Tip: bestudeer opdracht 4 op blz. 163.

6 Antonyms

7 Degrees of Comparison Vergelijkende trap.
Hiermee geef je in een vergelijking aan dat het ene woord meer … is dan het andere woord. Je kunt hier ook mee aangeven dat iets het meest … is. Bijvoorbeeld: scary – scarier – scariest of: beautiful – more beautiful – most beautiful. Uitzonderingen: good – better - best, bad – worse – worst.

8 Past simple De past simple gebruik je voor iets wat in het verleden gebeurt is maar ook in het verleden afgelopen is. Bijv: I slept all morning. Of: I painted a picture.

9 Present perfect De present perfect gebruik je als iets in het verleden gebeurt is maar nog steeds iets te maken heeft met het nu. Bijv: They have been married for 6 years. Ze zijn 6 jaar terug getrouwd en nu nog steeds. Ook als iets in het verleden gebeurt is en je het resultaat nu nog ziet gebruik je de present perfect. He has painted the house. Hij heeft eerder al het huis geverfd maar je ziet het resultaat nog steeds.

10 Word Order Denk hieraan: wie, doet, wat, waar (of wie), wanneer.
Denk goed om de plaats en tijd in de zin! Patat voor Toetje! (plaats voor tijd). In London/ shopping/ Jane/ went/ last year Jane went shopping in London last year.

11 Writing Assignment Aan het einde van de toets zit er een schrijfopdracht. Kijk naar opdracht 7 op blz. 187. Tip: kijk ook naar de assignment op blz. 188.
