Wat is het probleem? Dual-process overtuigingsproces modellen: Hoge betrokkenheid (en capaciteit) leidt tot issue-relevante reacties die uitkomst overtuigingsproces bepalen (Chaiken, 1987; Petty & Cacioppo, 1986). Onderzoek naar narratieve overtuiging: Hoge betrokkenheid leidt tot alles behalve issue-relevante reacties; reacties “tended to be global reactions or emotions” and were “impossible to code” as relevant to the persuasive issue (Green & Brock, 2000, p. 707; Slater & Rouner, 2003; Slater et al., 2006)
