Hoogtevrees en virtuele therapie Voorbeelden hiervan zijn: ▪ u ziet een reuzenrad en wordt heel bang en misselijk ▪ bovenop op een toren krijgt u hartkloppingen en last van benauwdheid ▪ u kijkt naar beneden vanaf een hoogte, gaat transpireren en wordt duizelig. Wat is virtuele therapie bij hoogtevrees? Virtuele therapie is dé nieuwe manier om hoogtevrees succesvol te verminderen. Bij virtuele therapie krijgt u een bril op, waarin levensechte beelden te zien zijn. Deze beelden zijn driedimensionaal waardoor diepte ontstaat. Het is alsof u echt op die gevreesde brandtrap staat. Langzaam beklimt u de trap, terwijl uw therapeut u begeleidt. De voordelen van virtuele therapie ▪ u hoeft niet met uw therapeut naar buiten om de hoogtevrees op te roepen. Dit kan gewoon in een behandelkamer ▪ de stap om uw hoogtevrees virtueel aan te pakken is minder groot dan echt op een brandtrap te staan ▪ de moeilijkheidsgraad van de oefeningen is met virtuele therapie veel beter te sturen dan in de werkelijkheid. Hoe lang duurt de behandeling? De behandeling/cursus duurt 4 weken. Iedere week heeft u een  bijeenkomst van 1,5 uur. Twee van de drie cursisten slagen erin om hun angst te overwinnen. 5
