The Wider Context Africa is very diverse New income sources Structural transformation of the economy Lack of roads, electricity & internet in rural areas Forests are afected & soils are depleted 70% of increase in global labour population Population increase from 1.3 to 2.5 billion in 2015 – 2050 Number of youth reaching the working age every year will be: 26 million in 2020, 33 million in 2030
Central Recommendation Build a strong Africa/EU partnership for rural inclusive and sustainable development of agriculture, food industry and rural economy, focus on youth and women Operate at three levels: people to people, business to business, government to government Dialogue on all levels

Legt de Task Force terecht de nadruk op de dorpen en plattelandsgebieden om ontwikkeling van onderop te stimuleren? Is de Nederlandse ontwikkelingssamenwerking nog toegerust om op dat niveau te werken?
De Task Force stelt dat de landbouwtechnologie nog uitgevonden moet worden om de doelstellingen te halen rondom inkomensontwikkeling, voedselzekerheid, milieubelasting en klimaatmitigatie en adaptatie. Kunnen gebieden in Afrika de proeftuin worden voor het ontwikkelen van deze nieuwe technologie?
De Task Force vindt dat boerenorganisaties een grote rol moeten spelen in zowel de planning van rurale gebieden als het aantrekkelijk maken het platteland voor jongeren. Is dat terecht?
