KLM is ervan overtuigd dat de groei van de onderneming alleen mogelijk is als dit op een duurzame manier gebeurt. De Dow Jones Sustainability Index erkent onze inspanningen; 8 jaar achtereen de no. 1 van de airline sector EN: supersector leader in de categorie “Travel and Leisure” voor de 4e keer. Ambitie van KLM, samen met Air France; de CSR standaard zetten binnen de luchtvaart. Veel initatieven vinden plaats om de milieuvoetafdruk te verkleinen; brandstofbesparingsmaatregelen, gewichtreductie aan boord (trolley’s, lichtgewicht pallet in ontwikkeling), duurzame catering (MSC vis, Rainforest Alliance Coffee). Om onze CSR ambities te realiseren hebben we partners nodig die ons daarbij helpen. #name KLM biofuel ambition: 1% biofuels by 2015… through a step by step approach Jul ’11: ASTM approval HRJ March ‘13: JFK-AMS serie June ‘12: Rio de Janeiro Sep ’11 + Feb ‘12: AMS-PAR serie Uitleg over onze biofuel ambitie die in de samenwerking is afgesproken: streven naar het bijmengen van 1% duurzame biobrandstof op de hele KLM vloot in 2015 Uitdagende ambitie om dit voor elkaar te krijgen In 2015 zal er dus sprake zijn van even inzet van 30,000 ton duurzame biobrandstof Met de huidige prijsspiraal kost deze hoeveelheid ca. 30 mln euro meer dan gewone kerosine (duurzame biobrandstof is momenteel 3x duurder dan fossiele brandstof). Bovendien is deze hoeveelheid nog niet op de markt verkrijgbaar! Jun ’11: 1st commercial flight Nov ’09: demo flight

To develop the supply chain by: Enabling all partners to leverage their role and cover the entire supply chain together; Aggregate biofuel demand and attract smart financing. Via SkyNRG hebben we selectie van de meest duurzame biobrandstoffen dankzij advies van de ingestelde ‘Sustainability Board’ (WNF, Copernicus instituut en Solidaridad). UCO en Camelina zullen de brandstoffen zijn waar we op korte termijn mee vliegen. Beiden leveren tot ca. 80% CO2-winst, en zijn (beperkt) verkrijgbaar. Beiden hebben positief advies van de ‘SB’ ontvangen, en hebben, onder de gestelde voorwaarden, geen impact op de voedselketen.

KLM Corporate BioFuel program KLM and the supplier SkyNRG offer customers and partners a platform to engage in flying more sustainable, based on their expected travel demand. Opportunity for corporate customers to fly (part of their) contracted travel needs on biofuels. Contribute to lower carbon footprint and help realizing sustainability ambitions of the participating companies. Coalition of flight operator, supplier and customer towards more sustainable aviation Currently we are engaged with ca. 15 biofuel partners which enable the flight series from JFK and some planned flights in the near future. We do expect to enlarge this platform from current mainly Dutch oriented customers and partners also to international markets. 6 6

Role for governments Ensure international sustainability criteria for biofuels; Simplify technical certification protocols and regional regulations to create a level playing field with other sectors; Support the development of regional biojet fuel supply chains; Encourage demand by duty travel on biofuels, and stimulate ‘green deals’.
