Video: http://www.fi.edu/tfi/exhibits/bower/06/NormanWe b.mp4 Critical Design minor content in motion HvA interactieve media

“Don Norman used to be known as a critic of unusable things but now, he says, he has changed. He has transformed himself into an advocate for pleasurable, enjoyable products. Beauty is good, says Norman. Successful products should be a pleasure to use, and convey a positive sense of self, of accomplishment, and pride of ownership.” Source: http://www.itconversations.com/shows/detail69.html Critical Design minor content in motion HvA interactieve media

“In Design Interactions, [...] we are interested in the social, cultural and ethical consequences of emerging technologies, and this means asking probing questions through design. To this end, we encourage students to consider the implications, as well as the applications, of new technologies, and thus to seek fresh approaches to interaction design – approaches that are meaningful and relevant today. In short, we see this field of design as a fertile way of thinking about the life around us, within us, and in the future beyond us.” Source: http://www.interaction.rca.ac.uk/ Critical Design minor content in motion HvA interactieve media

Post-optimal object “…meaning an object that exists beyond its optimization through its design. It is this proposition which launches one into a new world of electronic awareness, and its active interrogation through design thinking” bron: http://www.electronetwork.org/articles/hertzian.htm http://www.electronetwork.org/articles/hertzian.htm
22
Post-optimal object “When practicality and functionality can be taken for granted, the aesthetics of the ‘post-optimal’ objects provide a much richer field of imagination.” (Source: Hertzian Tales, Preface)
23
